The longer I paint the more I realize that what an artist really hopes to convey is not a cup or a figure or a flower but a feeling. It\’s not about things individually but how they come together. Background, subject, lighting and how they meld and intertwine to capture a space in time. A tall order, to be sure, but one that keeps us artist types inspired and creating. I hope I\’ve done some of that with this painting.
